Crochet Toddler Afghan

This crocheted ripple afghan was created when my daughter was around one or so. I've been lazy and haven't posted it!
I used the yarns from this post like I promised. The afghan is super soft and a little heavy since I used to strands held together.

Materials:

  • 7 colors sport weight yarn (328 yrds each)
  • Size I crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle

Gauge:

28" by 40" blocked

Method:

Color combination:
  • 2 white rows
  • 5 pink rows
  • 1 white row
  • 5 orange rows
  • 1 white row
  • 5 yellow rows
  • 1 white row
  • 5 green rows
  • 1 white row
  • 5 blue row
  • 1 white row
  • 5 purple rows
  • 1 white row
Repeat this sequence for the second half of the afghan starting with purple and ending with 2 white rows.

Using the white yarn with two strands held together, chain 174 sts.
Ripple pattern:
  1. SC in second chain from hook, SC in the next ch, skip one ch* SC next 5 ch, 3 SC in next ch, SC in next 5 ch, skip 2 ch, repeat from * across.
  2. Ch 1, work through back loop only SC 2, skip 1 st* SC in next 5 sts, 3 SC in next st, SC in next 5 sts, skip 2 sts, repeat from* end with SC next 5 sts, 3 SC in next st, SC in next 5 sts, skip 1 stitch, SC in last 2 sts.
Repeat row 2 for pattern.

I hope you enjoy my tutorial!
